Rules



The Rules

1.  The model should no more than 60 inches long (longest measurement)
2.   The model should be constructed to partially dismantle and expose the inner workings of the barge to view.  For Example it might split in half lengthwise to show all the interior, or a side might come off for the same reason.  Perhaps the top might come off.  The model must be able to be reassembled and be functional.
3.  When assembled it must float.  When inner workings are exposed it does not need to float.
4.  The model will be tested fully submerged.  Submerged test details will be given to those entering the contest.


Teams

1.  The minimum team size is 1 person.
2.  Cost of materials used in construction not including tools used for construction can be no more than USD $500.
3.  Teams can be composed of: individuals, friend groups, families.  A separate category will be composed of institutional sponsors such as academic institutions, corporations or small businesses.

Judging

1.       The model will be judged as to its best replica of all aspects of a Jaradite Barge.  For example:
a.       materials
b.      functionality
c.       “tight like a dish.”
d.      workmanship.
e.      Breathing air mechanisms
f.        Lighting mechanisms
g.       Rationales (written and included with model)
2.       3 judges will be chosen
